Why Get the AC & Heat Pump Professional Certification?

If you're already EPA-certified, the BPI Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Professional certification is the perfect next step in your journey. Prerequisites

 
Prerequisites required: Candidates must submit either a 40 CFR Section 608 Type II or Universal certification to certification@bpi.org prior to getting certified.

How to Become
Certified

 

Exam Information

Online exam: 50 multiple choice questions
Time limit: 2 hours
Passing Score: 70% or higher

Field exam: Hands-on
Time limit: 2 hours
Passing Score: 70% or higher
For Combustion Appliance Zone (CAZ) & Carbon Monoxide (CO) sections: 85% or higher

Standards of
Reference

 
Standards of reference for the the AC & Heat Pump certification exams include:

Recertification

 
BPI Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Professionals must recertify every three (3) years.
  • Bypass the online exam if you have accumulated and submitted at least 30 qualifying BPI Continuing Education Units (CEUs) over the course of your current certification cycle
  • Bypass the field exam if you have 3,000 hours of verified work experience during your current certification cycle
